Mindfulness Groups
WHAT ARE MINDFULNESS-BASED GROUPS?
Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction -MBSR- are groups designed for people wanting to have a deeper experience of aliveness and connection in life. It was originally researched as a way in which people with chronic illness managed to significantly improve life quality and wellbeing.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy -MBCT- is the psychological approach to these groups and it combines the ideas of cognitive therapy with meditative practices and attitudes based on the cultivation of mindfulness. MBCT is a research-based practice and the most effective treatment for people who suffer from repeated bouts of depression or chronic unhappiness, equal only to pharmacological treatment. MBCT helps people separate themselves from their thoughts and moods, and teaches them how to recognize their sense of being. It also aims to give participants the necessary tools to combat depressive symptoms as they arise.
Mindfulness-Based Existential Therapy- MBExist- is the humanistic-existential approach to these groups. In this approach, individuals merge into a deeper exploration of the relationship between the I and the Self. Relationship that is fundamental or the development of a life experienced in awe, wonder, gratitude, and abundance, while developing a deeper and more meaningful relationship with the self, with others, and with life.
